hotel visit: endemico resguardo silvestre

January 25, 2012 in architecture, hotel visit, travel

Incredibly beautiful is this hotel along the sloping terrain of Valle de Guadalupe in Mexico.  It’s actually a group or cluster of hotel rooms.  Each room is detached from one another, supported and held only by steel stilts.

The hotel concept and design is by Gracia Studio, a San Diego-based design house.  Each vista has a panoramic view of the valley, a personal entry door, patio and fireplace.

productive day

January 23, 2012 in personal

I’ve been feeling a bit down lately.  Perhaps, it’s that time of the year again.  I don’t know  where this feeling comes from but it comes every so often that I have no choice but to give in.  It won’t go away even if I fight it.  So today I bought DVDs to watch over the long weekend.  I cleaned the house.  I changed the sheets.  I decluttered and threw away junk and broken things.  I fixed my closet and folded my clothes in neat piles.  If I had a reporting engine, today’s report would merit a thumb’s up from the boss.  Not bad for someone having a bad day.

fresh paint

January 16, 2012 in design chic, design:must have, home, house renovation

So the outside of the house got a fresh coat of paint before the New Year.  And now I’m thinking of doing the same for one corner of the house which I’m planning to turn into a home office.  I want stark white walls this time.  Not beige or ecru or dirty white.  Stark white just like the houses and villas in Santorini.  Just like this…

And style my home office exactly like this…

It’s so nice right? I’m kinda wishing I have enough money now but this plan has to take a backseat to give way for our upcoming trip next month. But it will happen. You’ll see.

not so ordinary wall decals

January 12, 2012 in thursday finds

I love wall decals.  I’ve recently stumbled upon lots at Japan Home center near where we used to live.  And I got flowers, dogs and even ants.  It’s a good thing I took hold of myself and finally stopped sticking more flowers and daisies on my wall.  You see, if you’re not too careful, you could end up with butterflies flying over you in the bedroom, kitchen and even in the comfort room.

So thank God for these unusual wall decals.  I won’t have to give up my habit of sticking and posting anything and everything on my walls.

Why Have Specified Contractor Management System?

January 12, 2012 in personal

Working at the office no matter what kind of position you hold allows you to have a feel of success even when you are still working your way towards it, and especially if dedicated and professional colleagues surround you.

Having worked at a corporate setting for many years, I strongly believe that the success of the company lies in effective contractor management.  By this, I don’t mean just the qualifying method where careful screening of incoming employees takes place, but a system that does all the related work such as risk management, auditing, compliance monitoring, and the like. Not one out of the many businesspersons I know think that having such system is a waste of time and money. In fact, it will even save you more. This works for both worlds – small and big businesses. In If I were an entrepreneur who has a company to run, I will definitely leave the job of setting qualification standards for future staff members and other administrative works to a system that can do singlehandedly what five people do.

Hire top performers and manage the risks without spending too much while you still get to hit the top ranks in annual reviews. Busy companies also need timely alerts and notifications to keep executives on top of everything. Remember that their success is your success.

Let’s face it, you have to spend a little extra to achieve success in business but if this little extra will not cost you thousands of dollars, it will be the wisest spending you would ever make considering the promising returns.

I have seen people come and go, then leave a mark because of their outstanding performance and big contribution to the company and this will not be possible without a specified contractor management system. For me, a company does not deserve to have their share of the victory if it is not careful about letting people in. I am not underestimating human resource departments that fail to look at people as their companies’ foundation. With all due respect, I just think that business can expect bigger success not only for their companies but also for the people that work in it if they employ a contractor management system that also look into risk management as a major factor in the development. Not only will it save time and money, it will also keep the company more organized and solid.
