less than one day

February 16, 2012 in personal

So it’s less than one day before we head to Hong Kong for a much needed break. I bought additional jackets, plain jackets and not those ski jackets, because it doesn’t really snow in the place we’re visiting.  I’m excited and at the same time, very tired as I had to prepare a lot of things prior to our trip plus given the fact that I just couldn’t leave the house with just anyone.  So I asked my brother to look after my son and the house.  It’s just 4 days but I want to enjoy this vacay and not worry about things back home.  And so everything is settled and arranged for a worry-free vacation.

busy weekend

February 11, 2012 in personal

Oh how I wish I could just purchase movies I like this weekend. I was really looking forward to doing nothing this weekend. I thought I’d get to relax a bit and just do a movie marathon with the kids. But because of our scheduled vacation the following week, I have to at least finish half of my errands and chores every chance I get. And this includes the weekend. But I hope I can find time to bond with my kids at night. Although knowing myself all too well, I might just fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow. I’ll find time. I’ll make sure of that.

Anyway, I hope your weekend is not as busy compared to mine.  I hope you all have a fun and glorious weekend with your loved ones.  Go eat, drink and be merry.  We only live once.

See how I’m trying to convince myself to just ditch the work and just lay low and have fun.  You know what, I might do just that.

productive day

January 23, 2012 in personal

I’ve been feeling a bit down lately.  Perhaps, it’s that time of the year again.  I don’t know  where this feeling comes from but it comes every so often that I have no choice but to give in.  It won’t go away even if I fight it.  So today I bought DVDs to watch over the long weekend.  I cleaned the house.  I changed the sheets.  I decluttered and threw away junk and broken things.  I fixed my closet and folded my clothes in neat piles.  If I had a reporting engine, today’s report would merit a thumb’s up from the boss.  Not bad for someone having a bad day.

Why Have Specified Contractor Management System?

January 12, 2012 in personal

Working at the office no matter what kind of position you hold allows you to have a feel of success even when you are still working your way towards it, and especially if dedicated and professional colleagues surround you.

Having worked at a corporate setting for many years, I strongly believe that the success of the company lies in effective contractor management.  By this, I don’t mean just the qualifying method where careful screening of incoming employees takes place, but a system that does all the related work such as risk management, auditing, compliance monitoring, and the like. Not one out of the many businesspersons I know think that having such system is a waste of time and money. In fact, it will even save you more. This works for both worlds – small and big businesses. In If I were an entrepreneur who has a company to run, I will definitely leave the job of setting qualification standards for future staff members and other administrative works to a system that can do singlehandedly what five people do.

Hire top performers and manage the risks without spending too much while you still get to hit the top ranks in annual reviews. Busy companies also need timely alerts and notifications to keep executives on top of everything. Remember that their success is your success.

Let’s face it, you have to spend a little extra to achieve success in business but if this little extra will not cost you thousands of dollars, it will be the wisest spending you would ever make considering the promising returns.

I have seen people come and go, then leave a mark because of their outstanding performance and big contribution to the company and this will not be possible without a specified contractor management system. For me, a company does not deserve to have their share of the victory if it is not careful about letting people in. I am not underestimating human resource departments that fail to look at people as their companies’ foundation. With all due respect, I just think that business can expect bigger success not only for their companies but also for the people that work in it if they employ a contractor management system that also look into risk management as a major factor in the development. Not only will it save time and money, it will also keep the company more organized and solid.

see you next year

December 30, 2011 in happy weekend, personal, to-do list

I’ll see you all next year as I take a day off to enjoy New Year’s eve, spend time with family and indulge in a feast one last time.  See you next year…it seems out of reach but in fact, it’s only a day before it’s officially 2012.  Until I return, I hope you enjoy the rest of the Holidays as it marks the end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012.

Happy New Year, online friends!  We’ve been together almost a year and I’ve loved every minute of sharing the world’s beauty and wonder with you.

I’ll be back January 2 ready more than ever for another year of creativity and awesomeness.

LOVE

why i choose shaving over waxing

December 30, 2011 in found, personal

There are many reasons why people should shave. On a personal note, I shave because long hair on the legs annoy me and I refuse to acknowledge some myths that claim shaving can make hair thick and hard when they grow back. After all, shaving is my weekly ritual.

My protective mother suggested I discontinue shaving because of this actually but I was only able to convince her when I turned 30. That is after explaining to her why people should shave. There are a great many benefits such as firmer looking skin, less bacteria, cleaner finish, and a feminine look, which works particularly for me because I naturally have muscular legs with long, almost curly hair.

Maybe some people do not want to go through the painful process but waxing, I’d say is far more painful. You could cut your skin the first time although it will only take a few sessions before getting used to it. I am reading a few good reviews about waxing. Allegedly, it has more pleasurable results and longer lasting effects. Models prefer this method over shaving and I myself considered it at one point. However, every time I read the procedures, I bail out. My brother has sworn off waxing, too, after the first try because it’s painful, considering he’s a man. With shaving, I only have to use a shaver, shaving soap, and a few optional paraphernalia, and I’m done!

I don’t have to suffer those unpleasant waxing scenarios with shaving so I chose to stick to it. Shaving is not time-consuming, healthier, and the easiest way to maintain personal hygiene.
