handwriting series

February 4, 2012 in design chic, project

Admit it, we don’t write as much as we used to.  I noticed this when I made a reviewer for my daughter two weeks ago.  My right hand was shaking after I’d written a full page of questionnaire.  We are now so used to doing everything easy.  With the help the computer, iPhone, IPad and other gadgets, we’ve successfully managed to erase what was left of the art of handwriting.  Yes, I consider it an art.  This is a direct result of technology.  But that’s just too sad. What’s next?  Painting, handweaving and more would be replaced with digital prints and outputs.  The only thing I like about technology is one of these rfid blocking wallets. At least I’m confident technology won’t take away what’s left of identity.

Build Website Like A Pro

January 5, 2012 in found, project

Online businesses are thriving nowadays simply because millions of people from around the world log in on the internet all the time. The success of the online business depends on how much traffic you get every day. But this will not be possible if your website does not have an appeal. By this, I mean good content and attractive design.

Building your own website can be a challenge, believe me. I have been there, done that. At first, it was fun and imagining all the profits you can make inspires you a lot. But when you realize that you need to learn more about it first, your enthusiasm tends to wane a little. I was on the verge of quitting thinking I should not get my hands on something I do not really know about until I discovered a website builder software that can put Mark Zuckerberg to shame. Okay, it’s a little exaggerated but that was how tools like what I found can make your momma proud.

Originally, I wanted to build website that fits my personality, exudes attitude, and corresponds to my product/service. It was an online magazine cum store that allows people to read about fashion, health, and beauty issues. At the same time, people can find and buy products related to their interests and to the website’s contents. This can be a little complex for a novice since you have to have multiple pages and animations to keep people interested and to keep Google finding it. You don’t have to be programmer or a webmaster as long as you have an online website builder to help you get the whole thing done in just a couple of minutes. Most website builders have simple instructions and unique templates that will set your page apart from the others because they are meant to cater to someone who knows so little about CSS, coding, or HTML.

Venturing in an online business like I did is perhaps a good shot at entrepreneurship if you don’t have much capital. Now you can try them with only the hits minus the misses by trying a website builder that shortcuts your way to success.

what seo and internet marketing can do for you

December 30, 2011 in found, project

Marketing your online business without help from experts not only can make your business suffer but also yourself especially if you do not know much about it. Starting from scratch is a waste of time and money since you tend to try different means, fail, and then another means again. This is one of the reasons why many first-timers – or not so techie online entrepreneurs – look for a reliable search engine marketing company. This will help them keep their online business visible and profitable.

Let’s take my blog as an example. At first I thought I could save more by self-studying SEO and internet marketing and doing the works alone. Paying a firm to do the job that I thought a 7th grader can do felt big for a starter like me so I just stuck my face in front of the computer for long periods everyday figuring out how I could keep my blog more visible online. Social media, blog directory submissions, blog sites, blog commenting, social bookmarking websites, back linking – name it and I got my hands on it. Months have passed and I still could not hit my target number of visitors. I received few comments and backlinks but I still had to chase them.

The experience was very frustrating, which is why I thank my veteran online friends for helping me out. What I did for months, my SEO-savvy friends only did for a few weeks. But if you have a business and you want to create an online presence, you’re better off hiring an seo company and they will take care of the rest. But make sure to choose a reputable company as there are those that guarantee millions of visitors but only cheat on you by using their own multiple IP address to visit your website so you are convinced.

living room update

December 20, 2011 in house renovation, project

I was pressured to purchase a sofa set last week because friends ( from 3 different groups) have all decided to hold our annual Christmas get-togethers at my place.  Actually, one get-together is over which happened last Sunday.  And there are two more.  I can’t bear the thought of having all my friends sit on monobloc chairs and stools while we chit-chat over the latest happenings and goings of each other.

So last week I went to Crossings Department store and found this sofa set.

The current layout is so different from the original plan which a fellow mom helped me with.  There’s no space for the TV here as you can see.  The sofa is not the L-shaped kind I wanted which is perfect for TV or movie watching.  But this would do for now until such time that I do finally execute the original plan.

DIY Christmas Tree.

December 7, 2011 in design chic, project

Although my Christmas tree is made in China (you know, those plastic kinds that you assemble in a jiffy), I still love it.  It’s better to have one than none at all.  So if you guys still don’t have one, here are simple DIY projects and inspiration so there’s no reason for you not to get on that Christmas spirit wagon.

I’m all about Christmas right now.  Never mind that I still don’t have a living room sofa which earlier last month I told I’d buy.  But what the heck, it’s Christmas and we can all sit on the floor.
