hotel visit: endemico resguardo silvestre

January 25, 2012 in architecture, hotel visit, travel

Incredibly beautiful is this hotel along the sloping terrain of Valle de Guadalupe in Mexico.  It’s actually a group or cluster of hotel rooms.  Each room is detached from one another, supported and held only by steel stilts.

The hotel concept and design is by Gracia Studio, a San Diego-based design house.  Each vista has a panoramic view of the valley, a personal entry door, patio and fireplace.

all i want for christmas

November 8, 2011 in personal, travel

If you were asking yourself , “What to give Cherry this Christmas?”  Well, ask no more.  I’ve put together my Christmas Wish List for this year.  Nothing fancy.  Nothing expensive.   Sort of…

1. A pot that never runs out of good food.

2. A body that never gets fat no matter how much chocolate and pastries I eat day in and day out.

3. A doctor in the family (this might just come true in 4 years as my son has decided to pursue medicine and the good news is…he’s on a full scholarship program.  Lucky, lucky!).

4. A sweet daughter who’ll never leave me.

5. A lifetime supply of Pierre Hermé macarons.

6. A free trip to Paris.

7. Blogs that practically update themselves.
That’s all.

dream destination: london

September 29, 2011 in others, travel

So what if majority of travelers prefer Paris over London?  I still would want to visit London if given a chance to choose one dream destination.  I’m not really fond of the cold but I want to experience having high tea in my London pad with a British boyfriend.  You don’t know this about me but I’ve always dreamed of having a handsome British for a boyfriend and how we’d spend the evenings in front of the television watching A Room with a View. What about you? What’s your number one dream destination? The infographics below might help you plan your next travel destination.

revisiting our ancestral home

August 13, 2011 in house visit, personal, travel

I have a certain fascination about old things and there’s nothing I love more than going to an antique shop, garage sale or flea market. The hunt is what’s amazing.  The thrill of it.  The excitement that comes with finding something so beautiful amongst dusty shelves and piles.

Last Thursday we went to visit our ancestral home in Batangas.  It has been years since the last time I went there so you can imagine my excitement at seeing the house we spent summer vacations for so many years.  Too bad the house isn’t the same.  It’s close to becoming dilapidated.  It’s dusty.  The shiny floor we used to walk on are now dull and lifeless.  The furniture pieces obviously lack the much needed care.  The ceiling is close to falling.  In other words, it was no longer the home I remembered during my childhood.  It’s a shame no one made an effort to maintain the property.

But knowing myself, I didn’t let that ruin my day or our trip especially when I got to see some lovely things…

Hotel Aire de Bardenas in Spain

July 10, 2011 in design chic, hotel visit, others, travel

The hotel is like in the middle of nowhere.  It’s surrounded with a wheat field and an amazing landscape.  You’d feel like you’re in Arizona except this is in Bardenas, Spain and Tudela is just nearby boasting of its 12th Century Cathedral.  And if you’re lucky to get a booking around this time, you may even be witness to a bull run which generally happens during the second fiesta of Navarre.  But what is more interesting is the architecture.  Are those metal buildings or what? The hotel is quite unique.  It’s boxy, unpretentious and modern yet unconventional at the same time.  I don’t have words to describe it except that I know I want to stay there.

I love this room especially.  Lovin’ the white on white interior.

marina bay sands singapore

June 19, 2011 in design chic, found, hotel visit, travel

Singapore is truly Asia’s favorite playground.  Became a favorite just recently.  We went there for a 5-day vacation and was rewarded with visual and gastronomic treats.  Aside from witnessing Universal Studios Singapore’s grand opening this year which were packed full of many attractions ranging from Hollywood, Far, Far Away to Sci-Fi City, Madagascar, The Lost World and the amazing structures at The Mummy, we had a chance to stay for two nights at the Marina Bay Sands.  It was a last minute decision to stay an extra night at this beautiful hotel.

The service is impeccable, the amenities are world-class, and just looking at the food choices is enough to make you full.  Plus the staff and crew are there to please and serve you.  Nothing was left to chance as everything, from the lobby down to the carpet to the lighting, keycards, and water pump for the longest pool at the Sky Park,  was working in great fluidity with each other.

Here are photos of the room….
